Great loft and soft feel to liner. I found it hard to find a cold weather dual sleeping bag that could be separated into two individual bags if desired, and that did not have built-in pillows, etc. So was glad to find this Browning bag that can be used as a double bag or as two individual bags. However, this bag was clearly NOT designed with individual bag usage in mind. The bottom bag is slightly longer than the top bag; and the zippers, though they easily zip together, are actually of different lengths. Also, both hook and loop zipper closure flaps are attached to the bottom bag, with the corresponding attachment pads on the top bag; there are no personal gear pockets in the bottom bag, and straps for securing the bag when rolled up are found only on the outside of the bottom bag. This means the top bag has only the two pads for adhering the zipper closure flaps, two personal gear bags, and no straps for rolling the bag up.This arrangement works fine when the bags are zipped together as a dual bag, but when used individually, one bag (the bottom one) is slightly larger; there is no way to secure the zipper closure as it is just flap to flap; and there is no bag for personal gear. Similarly, when used individually, the second bag (the top bag) has no zipper closure as it is just pad to pad; has two gear pockets, one on the inner top and one on the inner bottom (that you are laying on); and no straps to hold it together when rolled up.I had hoped the bags would be mirror images of each other (as were our old double bags, now nearly 40 years old) so that they could be easily used as individual bags or as a double bag. But, alas, that is not the case with these bags. We will keep these bags as we have to replace our old ones, and we need the flexibility of cold weather bags that can be used as singles or a double; and we like the soft feel and loft of these. However, I would strongly suggest the manufacturer redesign these bags to be exact mirror images of each other to make them more practical when used as individual bags.Lastly, there is only one stuff sack. This sack is large enough to hold the dual bag, but there are no smaller sacks for holding the individual bags. Will have to plan on buying those separately.
